Fasting/Detox: Renewing Mind, Body, and Soul on a Path of Clarity

In September of 2016, a strong urge propelled me to undertake a detox journey. Long overdue, I had intended to embark on this path the previous year. The purpose of this detox encompassed my mind, body, and soul, aiming to facilitate my body's healing process while attaining mental and spiritual clarity regarding my life's purpose.

Day 1: Wednesday, September 28
Having just returned to New Jersey, I unexpectedly found myself at a Jamba Juice. Seizing the moment, I decided to initiate the fast with two days of smoothies rather than one. The day progressed smoothly, with protein-rich smoothies constituting a substantial part of my intake. My first two smoothies, the Acai and Pumpkin Delight, were enhanced with pea protein. For my third, I opted for a smoothie from a store near Sprouts.

Day 2: Thursday, September 29
Engaged in a student wellness retreat led by Dr. Whitley from SCNM, my day spanned from 9 AM to 3 PM. Commencing with a rejuvenating celery, apple, parsley, and ginger smoothie fortified with plant protein, I prepared my second smoothie alongside fellow participants. As evening descended, I concocted a blend of beets, celery, carrots, and protein. My next phase begins tomorrow: a water-only portion of the fast. I complemented this transition with liver and detoxifier supplements (3x) and a single colon cleanse supplement at bedtime.

Day 3: Friday, September 30
Dawn found me rising early to heed nature's call. The colon cleanse supplement had done its job. By 10 AM, I felt invigorated and ready for the day's journey. The hours were unencumbered, offering me the simple pleasure of indulging in some video games.

Day 4: Saturday, October 1
The fasting phase culminated today. My limbs felt slightly sore, prompting me to break the fast with rejuvenating juice from Sprouts. With this, a chapter of my detox journey concluded, leaving me renewed and invigorated.

Reflecting upon these days, I can't help but acknowledge the sense of accomplishment and revitalization this detox has granted me. This process of self-care, introspection, and renewal has laid the groundwork for a future enriched with purpose and well-being.

A Nightly Nurturing: 8 Healthy Habits Before Bed

Introduction:
In the fast-paced world we live in, the habits we cultivate before bedtime can significantly impact our overall success and well-being. Below are eight habits inspired by the article below that you can partake in that can help you unwind, recharge, and set the stage for a productive tomorrow.

Reflect and Journal:
Before hitting the sack, take a few moments to reflect on your day. Jot down your accomplishments, challenges, and any insights you've gained. Keeping a gratitude journal can foster positivity and help you maintain perspective, making it an essential practice in the pursuit of success.

Disconnect from Screens:
The blue light emitted by electronic devices can disrupt your sleep patterns. Successful people recognize the importance of disconnecting from screens at least an hour before bed. Instead, opt for activities that relax your mind, such as reading a physical book or practicing gentle yoga stretches.

Plan Ahead:
Preparation is key to success. Take a few minutes before bed to outline your goals for the next day. This simple act of planning can help you wake up with a clear sense of purpose, ready to tackle your tasks efficiently.

Practice Mindfulness:
Engage in mindfulness exercises to calm your mind and reduce stress. Whether it's deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation, cultivating a mindfulness routine before bedtime can enhance your sleep quality and overall mental well-being.

Hydrate Mindfully:
Staying hydrated is important, but consuming too much liquid right before bed can disrupt your sleep with frequent trips to the bathroom. Instead, enjoy a calming cup of herbal tea, which can soothe your senses and promote relaxation.

Wind Down with Light Reading:
Escaping into a good book can be an excellent way to unwind and transition into a restful state. Opt for light, engaging reading material that captivates your interest without triggering intense emotions.

Skin Care Ritual:
Caring for your skin before bed isn't just about vanity – it's an act of self-care. Follow a gentle skincare routine, cleansing away the day's impurities and applying a moisturizer to nourish your skin. This ritual can signal to your body that it's time to relax and rejuvenate.

Gratitude Practice:
End your day on a positive note by focusing on gratitude. Reflect on three things you're thankful for – this simple practice can shift your mindset towards positivity and create a sense of contentment that contributes to your overall success.

Conclusion:
Incorporating these bedtime habits into your nightly routine can set the stage for a more successful and fulfilling life. The most successful individuals recognize the importance of self-care, mindfulness, and preparation before bed. So, why not join their ranks? Start cultivating these healthy habits tonight and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.
